"MY MOTHER"

Betty Jo Davis

This is my mother, Betty Davis. She was born March 23, 1928 in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She grew up there and went to Sulphur High School. She married my father, Albert Nelson Davis, on December 5, 1946. They had 3 children: Dorothy Elease Davis (Dec. 7, 1948), Marcia Jean Davis (May 10, 1950), and me, Sharon Kay Davis (Nov. 28, 1953) Mother graduated from LPN Nursing School in 1967 and worked as a nurse in Oklahoma for many years. My father passed away in 1985 and shortly afterward Mother moved to Arkansas to be near me and my family. She lives in a very nice retirement center and seems to really enjoy it. I don't know what I'd do without her to talk to and go places with. She is not only my mother but also my friend!

A WONDERFUL MOTHER

GOD made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He molded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks, fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.

MOTHER...

Mother You filled my days with rainbow lights,
fairytales and sweet dream nights,
A kiss to wipe away my tears,
Gingerbread to ease my fears.
You gave the gift of life to me,
And then in love, you set me free.
I thank you for your tender care,
for deep warm hugs and being there.
I hope that when you think of me,
A part of you, you'll always see.

All that I am or hope to be I owe to my mother.

She Shall be Praised

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.
Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
~Proverbs 31: 10, 25-30~

As I Look Back

As I look back on my life
I find myself wondering.....
Did I remember to thank you
for all that you have done for me?
For all of the times you were by my side
to help me celebrate my successes
and accept my defeats?

Or for teaching me the value of hard work,
good judgement, courage, and honesty?

I wonder if I've ever thanked you for the simple things...
The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we've shared?

If I have forgotten to express my gratitude
For any of these things,
I am thanking you now....
and I am hoping that you've known all along,
how very much you are loved and appreciated.
